Today, I cleaned out my closets with the intention of selling/Goodwilling whatever I can bear to part with. Let’s just say I was surprised/horrified to see just how many clothes I actually own. I sifted through years and years of sartorial memories… the strapless silk dress with the insanely large bust from Fiji that my father bought me when I was 5 (that I’m still waiting to grow into), the striped polos and plaid pants from my brief foray into preppydom during my high school years, the long flowy skirts from college. I spent a good few hours reliving memories and dividing my wardrobe into keepers and goners.
I’m pretty proud of the results:
Fourteen pairs of barely worn shoes…
Paul Smith is having their annual Friends & Family sample sale; this is cause for much merriment. It runs for two glorious, discount-filled days and let me tell you… it’s been amazing! As soon as I walked in, I was blown away by rack after rack of fabulous garments from this great English designer. So many colors and textures and the shoes… oh God… the shoes.
I scored a pretty sweet haul, mostly accessories and this lovely, lovely bandeau bathing suit that I seriously coveted last year. Here’s the first run – this great floppy straw hat and a very intensely yellow belt! When paired with my T by Alexander Wang dress, I totally feel like a spy, a woman of mystery, if you will.

The other day, I wore a lot of necklaces. I don’t think I like the effect as much as I liked the too-many-bracelets look. I think I’ll try it again with a different combination of necklaces, perhaps…

Today, I wore a lot of bracelets, for no other reason than I felt like it. This is completely out of style character for me and I’m into it. Could this introduce a new sartorial chapter in which I finally take advantage of the myriad accessories at my disposal? Only time will tell…
